Well ya'll know what to do.
Spoiler:
great episode, love how we're getting the history of Equestria not just the lives of the mane 6. A few questions were raised in this episode for me 1) Scootaloo didn't appear on the family list were is her family we need a Scoots episode NOW to disprove all the Scootabuse and her being an orphan! 2) what happen to Appleblooms mom and dad? its now cannon they don't live on the farm and just havent seen them because she would have asked them instead of Granny Smith. are they dead? Did they move away to start their own farm? I must know!

Not an AJ episode, unfortunately. But I love Grandma Smith now! :3 AND MAGICAL APPLES! And now we know why Diamond Tiara is the way she is...

Must name all children Filthy and Stinky then change my last name to Rich.
It was fun seeing some different characters being highlighted with their own episode, but my Fluttershy and AJ fix in Season 2 ASAP. I also couldn't find Derpy this time, I hope she showed up in Granny Smith's flashback so we can confirm she is in on time travel with Doctor Hooves.

Wow, that was a good one. Learning more of how Ponyville was created was awesome! I especially liked the timber wolves.

I thought this was a fantastic episode! Normally i'm not a fan of AJ or Applebloom, but finally giving Granny Smith some love was just awesome. The idea of Zap Apples is a really nifty concept, too. In a world of magic and weird plants that we don't really know about, why the heck not, right?
We've all had family members like that before. The sort you care for, but don't necessarily want to be around all the time or would want showing up to a social event.
I hate Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon 20% more every time I see them. They open their mouths? It's usually some garbage or pretentious dribble. You know what would be great? If there was an episode sort of like the one from Punky Brewster where her friend Margaux and her family lost ALL of their riches and she had to pretty much be homeless. Her friends pitched in and bought back her favorite doll from an auction for her and she learned a valuable lesson about not being a stuck up, pretentious bitch just because you have money. I think that should happen, but with one if not both DT and SS. Have the Crusaders pull together for them or have them organize a charity event. Something like that.

NEW EPISODE YAY!:
In short, great episode. Nice seeing Granny Smith getting some love. However, when I watched it there was some fridge logic and a continuity error I noticed. If you didn't see it, go watch Winter Wrap Up. Just the cold opening is all that's needed. Pay attention then think about Granny Smith's story of how Ponyville was founded. Chew on that for a bit.

But I thought sweetie bell was the dictionary! Not one of my favourites tho. When the apple family presented Celestia with the seeds I was half expecting here to kick the sack away and tell them to scram

Well, i'm going to pull the George Lucas card here "You see, the uh...power of myth...uh...".
Also, who's to say that ponies don't live to be hundreds of years old?
"When 400 years old you reach, look as...uh....what was I saying, Half Pint?"
If you want a real continuity error, how about this: Granny Smith picks a few Zap Apples and returns to the farm after taking care of the Timberwolves and proceeds to eat/remove the seeds from them. She even says herself that if you don't pick them all, POOF! All gone. I'd assume this counted for the seeds and what have you. Maybe they planted them in enough time or were far enough away for it to not matter, but it's just a little thing I noticed.

This episode was excellent. For the first ten minutes or so the cooky granny smith schtick was wearing a bit thin, but her story at the end really brought it home. I like it when backstory and timeline are fleshed out, and in that regard it was very satisfying.
<pedantry> I also noticed that inconsistency with the timeline, but then again, we really don't know how long a "year" is in their world, and there's no real reference for how old anyone is. One possible clue is that diamond tiara had a "cuteceaƱera." If that's anything like a regular quinceaƱera, it would imply she was 15 years old, when they're clearly still in the analog of elementary school. This could suggest a roughly 2:1 ratio of equestrian year to earth year, in which case someone could conceivably live to be "hundreds" of years old. </pedantry>
The more I watch of this show, the more convinced I am that Big Macintosh is developmentally disabled. I think that would be a fascinating turn for his character, and I'd love to see an episode about that, although I'm sure that's much too heavy for a show like this.

Well the...ahem...'target audience' is probably not even going to notice. But since many bronies are comic book fans, the continuity is going get analysed and taken apart to shreds.

Fantastic episode. Right now we're getting a lot of that world building, which we should be pretty thankful for. The fact we're even getting this much information is pretty awesome. I know people will take this and try to splice it for all it's worth with "time continuity" and the like, but that's just thinkin' too much. So what if Granny could be 100+ years old? That's badass in my book!
Big Mac got a new line, and we all heard that important lesson at the end. I've been in the same situation myself, and it felt so good to see it all get resolved in a great way.
