I was very happy the way this episode turned out. The whole Spike maturing because of greed thing was a bit odd, but it was very adorable had a great message. There were plenty of great image macro opportunities and also.... LYRA + BON BON = RANDOM DERPY!

Great moments: -Spike attempting to run away (needs a gif)/random Pinkie -Cheerile shopping for groceries... and a hat, I know she is a woman but that's a random shopping list -EVERYTHING with Pinkie (bouncing on a balloon, cake assault) -AJ's leaftache -Twilight face (and random goat sound) when Spike complains about getting books -Spike bitch slapping Twilight -Derpy in a well!!!

My favourite episode so far xD Also; Pinkie teleporting is now canon! xD I mean, Twi was intentionally trying to teleport Spike. How did Pinkie get there instead? Easy! She teleported herself! xD Everything else has pretty much been mentioned. Well, air-raid sirens are now canon. Therefore, there has been at least one war in near past involving air raids. Pegasi with bombs? Also, we now have a globe to base all our maps on. This is awesome xD

In a certain way, more and more evidence is piling up for a "Equestria is post apocalyptic earth" theory. We have references to trucks, tanks, cannons, air raid sirens, locomotives, france, and guillotines of all things. I mean, its a complete stretch for the show, but based on the schizo tech we've seen, its a fun theory to follow.

Also the map kinda looked like the map of the world, at least as drawn by an American (jk, jk, couldn't really pull that off in a mostly NA guild). But it did have the general shape of NA, SA and Africa

I've decided that the wonderbolts just fail... they can't catch falling ponies, they cant stop a statue from falling over at the gala and they can't stop a dragon... to be honest they should just stick to stunt performances. and why did they come to take care of the dragon in this episode but not the one in dragonshy? and if their suppose to be an elite fighting force where the hell were they when Nightmare Moon attacked or Discord bunch of slackers... Spitfire is still best pony though.

Another great episode; I'd been hoping they'd eventually explore the implications of spike being a dragon. A character arc would have been ideal, but that kind of thing just isn't going to happen in a kids' show, so it's understandable that they confined it to one episode.
I think it's really clever how they handled the dragon hoarding instinct, and his descent into greed was great. Also, touching scenes at the end with Rarity when he finally managed to master it. A shame there doesn't seem to be an HD video up yet, so I just watched the blurry lo-fi version. Will definitely rewatch as soon as a better quality version is out there.

This reminds me even more of Sonic SatAM now... Vague hints at being future-earth, references to some past great conflict or war, an imprisoned malevolent magical being thirsty for revenge, etc. Even this specific episode is remarkably similar to the episode "Dulcy" where their dragon friend, after her birthday, struggles with an awakening instinct. All coincidence of course, but it's still fun to look for similarities.
