Luna's attitude was absolutely perfect! Her traditional royal tone of speech and use of old English was flawless and right along the lines of how I imagined she would be for the first time in public.

Also Fluttershy's reaction to the whole holiday was hilarious This whole episode made me love Luna's character all the more!

She was using a mixture of middle and modern English. If she was using Old English, also known as Anglo-Saxon, then no one would be able to understand her. Or rather, no one would be able to understand her fluently.

Good episode. Not as good as last weeks, but there's going to be a TON of fan art and screencaps and memes from this one. Maybe even more than last week just because it's Luna.

I am surprised how close Luna's character was to certain fanon interpretations of her being socially awkward. However, one thing that I am glad they did NOT do is make her socially awkward due to her being shy or a nerdy shut-in. She clearly knows how to handle herself as a public figure, just not one from this millennium. It was quite amusing to me to see the fanboys' shy, sweet Luna be given such an intense personality. The character also gives me the impression that she didn't socialize much even before her imprisonment. Again, it does not seem to be because she disliked it or was bad at it, but simply because she was too busy with her duties. I suppose that makes sense since Equestria was probably a much less peaceful place then, especially after Discord's reign.

But let us not forget the other characters that contributed to the awesome.
I was thrilled to see Zecora again. She's such an interesting character, and the fandom doesn't do enough with her. That's probably due to the rhyming, though. She makes for a terrific narrator for the story of Nightmare Moon. Wait a minute, where have I heard that before?
Derpy's gag was hilarious, and I'm glad they put Carrot Top there instead of Rarity. "I emptied your barrel!" I contend that Derpy wasn't wearing a costume, but merely got the grocery bags stuck on her after raiding Carrot Top's fridge.
Oh, Pinkie Pie, I knew you were more aware than you let on.
Who else thinks that Pipsqueak is now the cutest pony ever? Yes, cuter than Fluttershy, don't hurt me.

hmm not as good as I hope it was going to be. Shadow Bolt Dash was awesome and it was sweet to see Zacora again but they added the new pony Pipsqueak and basically made the CMC background characters in this episode

P.S. Colgate dressed as dentist = Epic

This was beyond epic. Most of the reasons to that has already been said (for example with Lunas personality, etc.), but one hasn't been noticed yet;
At one point, Zecora refered to Pipsqueak (the cute pirate dude kid (whom I hope become friends with the CMC)) as LittlePip. As is quite obvious, this seems to be a Fallout: Equestria reference :3

Yeah, I noticed that too. Still, I don't think it's a reference to the Fan Fiction, I think it's more of a coincidence. However I will say inb4 people rage over the apparent naming of an OC in a show.

Long story short; Littlepip in Fo:E was named such because her mother shortened "Little Pipsqueak". The character "Pipsqueak" in the show was nicknamed "Littlepip".

I hated the little English child and liked everything else, there seems to be a lot more comedy in this season than the last one

This. All of this. Did nopony laugh when you realized that Derpy was dressed as a paper bag? That was one of my favorite parts! I loved Luna in this episode, but I'm surprised they changed her mane back to Nightmare Moon's. At then end of the episode I was like "Where's Rarity?" You'd think Nightmare Night would be her thing. Costumes, fashion designer, epic costume maybe? Spike was also great, once again.

My top 3 costumes... Pinkie dressed as Scootaloo was best. Mostly because her being so much in character though xD After that? Hmm... Dunno really. All of them? xD

I read on a link from Equestria Daily to Lauren Faust's deviant-art page about how rarity was originally in the script but cut due to it making the show a little too long for it's time slot. It was something to the effect of rarity obsessing over costumes in her boutique, twilight taking luna in for a costume that'll help her interact with the ponies. Rarity makes her a over-the-top pink princess costume, and as luna is taking it off pinky comes in, sees the dress in her mouth and screams about nightmare moon eating a princess as she runs away.
