| After some plugging around I stumbled across what is supposed to be the equation for determining Force Armor's value. After running the numbers, it is a lot lower than what I expected. Equation: - Code:
-
Bubble = 3.27 * [0.14(WP) + 0.17(FP) + 0.17(P)] + 0.164(7085) After running Angel's stats unbuffed, I came up with only 3216.06 protection. The math makes sense but in practice it seems much higher. I've had fights where my Force Armor has cut the damage of a boss' hardest hitting attacks nearly in half. In the thread I read that a Champion/Columi mixed Sorcerer pulls a base of 2.7k and when buffed with Power + Relic adrenals (this is pre-1.3) hit around 3.2k, my current base. On a hunch, I decided to assume the typical Ops set-up for my character to double-check the numbers. This is fully buffed with a Prototype Resolve Stim. I'll show my work this time. Willpower: 2150 Force Power: 1298 Power: 840 - Code:
-
3.27 * [0.14(2150) + 0.17(1298) + 0.17(840)] + 0.164(7085) 3.27 * [301 + 220.66 + 142.8)] + 1161.94 3.27 * 664.46 + 1161.94 3334.72 Force Armor This is after an increase of over 100 Willpower and over 50 Power. Now thinking about it, that number actually seems correct, if not just a little low. Maybe it's because I always thought the bosses were hitting harder or the health bar just didn't seem to move as much as it should. Either way, if you're curious about your numbers please run your stats through the equation and see what comes out. Try not to be too horrified. Source |

| I did testing of force armour before and it logged around 3k so the equation is likely correct. I actually expected it to be this much based on how many attacks I was able to absorb.
In EC I think of it as a way to stop damage and give me that 1 GDC of breathing room before I cast a heal. |

Try to think of Force Armor as an instant 3k heal, but in absorb form. I was thinking about it last night and it would make sense if it could crit, but I haven't read anywhere people citing crits in parsers for it. |

| I doubt it crits.
And yes what I meant by 1 GDC of breathing room:
Target is taking damage, perhaps rapidly, use force armour to give an extra pool of HP which may be depleted fast but will not result in immediate death. As such I have time to quickly look at my cd's, force, stacks of force degeneration (if any), hp of the rest of the group as well as the situation on screen. These days this process takes me about a second and lets me plan my heals accordingly (particularly when I can't just carry on with my sustained rotation and need to quickly top off).
Even if it is only around 3k I absolutely love it, there is no 3k insta heal, the highest is 2k crit from HT. Using force armour I have saved people from as low as 3hp in both PvE and PvP. |
