I didn't have super high expectations for this episode, but it surprised me.
Spoiler:
This episode seemed like they were going more for pure comedy than significant plot or character development, which I am perfectly okay with, especially when it's immediately after a plot-heavy two part premiere. Twilight as an anal retentive train wreck is always hilarious. By Celestia's beard, this episode is an image macro gold mine. There were so many funny faces, and not just on Twilight either. We got "deal with it" Rainbow Dash, drama queen Rarity, and Kung-fu Fluttershy.
And just when I had finally gotten over the fact that trains are pulled by ponies, they put a steam powered one in the intro. Seriously, what the hell?
Also, in before the fandom does horrible, horrible things with the "need it, want it" spell.

gonna admit Twilight kinda creeped me out a bit. but I loved all the jokes through out the episode RD with sunglasses, Fluttershy kicking a bears ass, and Big Mac still wanting the doll after the spell was broke I assume its a brony joke not to mention the facial expressions were epic. also is that considered a Sonic rainboom RD did? kinda looked like a nuclear Rainboom to me must be the same thing our RD did on the minecraft server awhile back. and did Big Mac just falcon punch all of the fillies in his town? WTF man lol

Spoiler:
Fantastic episode! I wasn't sure how they'd work it out given the description that we've had for a few weeks, but they managed to make Twilight be crazier than Pinkie Pie in Party of One. There were a ridiculous amount of crazy faces from Twilight that i'm sure will flood the interwebs over the next week or so.
Fluttershy fighting a bear? Hell. Yes.
Rainbow Dash doing a Sonic Rainboom into an old, decrepit barn and not being liquidated upon impact? Hell. Yes.
Rarity just happening to have her self pity couch with her outside? Hell. Yes.
Big Mac being a little girl on the inside? Hell. Yes.
Bon Bon speaking, Derpy close up and CMC arguing? Hell. Yes.
This episode really stepped it up.
And I KNOW we were all thinking the same thing when spike mentioned it was time for a certain baked good...

This is pretty much exactly my reaction, except I add a few things;
Spoiler:
One; Big Mac taking the doll at the end? Priceless xD I suspect the internet is going to explodetonate over this episode; it has already started.
IMO, it almost feels like the creators went "Lets try to stuff as many meme-seeds into one episode as possible!" and then went apeshit crazy with the concept xD
Love seing other interpreting it too. I didn't see that cupcakes reference before Doombah pointed it out xD Honestly, I did not expect them to ever put anything that could remotely be a reference to it into the show xD
Also... Rainbow Dash's new trick? I call it the "Atomic rainbomb" xD Which, when I think about it, miiiiight be a very subtle nod to "Fallout: Equestria". xD
TL;DR version; it was fucking awesome. xD

Wow, this episode was fantastic!
Spoiler:
Twilight's degeneration in this episode was seriously creepy! I was expecting it after seeing how OCD she was about creating a checklist for making the real checklist, but still... And Doombah thanks for pointing out the Cupcakes reference! I never thought of it until I read your post I've never had the courage to read it though, it sounds like it leaves you with emotional scars. I can't wait to see the meme-splosion that'll inevitably happen this week!
Also kung-fu Fluttershy for the win!

Read it sometime. It's pretty bad (in the gruesome sense), but it could be a lot worse. Some of the after stories people have written are really good as well. I put off reading it for months, but then finally broke down after Party of One came out and everyone was all "OMG SHE REALLY IS A PSYCHPATH!".

Just saw this over on My Little Brony and thought i'd share. Spoilers, of course.
Spoiler:
Honestly, my reactions weren't too far off from these ones. XD
She really IS the craziest pony in Ponyville.
Also, did anyone else notice that they REALLY emphasized the color of unicorn magic? Twilights is very magenta colored, Raritys is very blue and Celestias is very yellow. Just something I noticed on my second viewing just now.
Also, the birds nest in the pic above is just a copy/paste of the one from Winter Wrap Up.

Spoiler:
Everypony here has pretty much summed up what I thought about the episode.
It's like they basically said, "Ya know what, guys? Fuck it. Let's just make an episode where we throw in as much random insanity that we possibly can, because we know that the Bronies will go apeshit for it and blow up the internet with with about 95% of the frames in the episode. Then we will just stick with the theme of the show for the last 2 minutes so we stay true to the show. Sound good? *group-brohoof*"
I approve.

Spoiler:
This was a great episode... I mean, heck, we've had Pinkie Pie go crazy, and then Fluttershy, and Twilight herself has gone a little nuts before.
As a friend said, she seriously does need a week with Celestia, just being hugged and reassured that she's loved and respected and cuddled.
And I'm pretty sure the writers are screwing with the writers, not only with Applejack calling Rainbow Dash a cute nickname, RD, but the Love It Want It spell that Twilight uses. Comedic hijinks ahoy with that spell!

It was a really funny episode. It creeped me out a little but darn, it was a good laugh.
Especially when Twilight Sparkle started to think she was going back to Magic Kindergarten.

That was Spike's face throughout the episode was priceless, and they just riddled this on with references and near 4th wall destruction. The Derpy close up made my day.

Spoiler:
After watching this episode again, the part that really gets me is Twilight's hyperbolic doomsday scenario for what will happen if she's late. It's been years and I STILL have nightmares about being sent back to school for some reason. Also the cold-sweat fear you get when you realize you've forgotten an important assignment or test, and the subsequent scrambled, panicky ideas you hatch to deal with it.
I also think this is one of Spike's best episodes. He dealt with that situation like a champ. Twilight and Spike are by far my favorite characters, and this episode just reinforces that.
I have to wonder if each character is going to get their own psychological breakdown episode at this rate...
