Disney used their infinite wealth to buy LucasFilms and all its assets, that includes LucasArts. As soon as the deal was sealed they announced that they have Episode 7 slated for a 2015 release, and another Star Wars movie every two to three years. I'm not sure how to feel about this other than scared for what the future may bring.

George Lucas won’t be writing or directing, though he’ll serve as “creative consultant” on the film.
Can't tell if that's a good think. After all he wrote 4-6, but then again he also wrote 1-3.
Just imagine if Timothy Zahn wrote them.

I've gone from furious about this to being ok with it in like, 7 hours.
Here's why it's ok: -GL has lost ALL control over where Star Wars goes now. He'll be a "Creative Consultant" for the films, but he has no real sway.
-Look at Thor, Captain America and The Avengers. All three were released under the Disney umbrella. All three were really fun.
-The same can be said of recent Pixar films.
I'm not a huge fan of this, but then again it's not like Disney and SW are exclusive. They've been doing SW weekends for years now. Also: Star Tours.

P.S. So help me god...if they fuck up the EU, it's over.

They are all Marvel characters, and Disney owns Marvel. All of the Avengers character movies were made by Marvel Studios. The movie rights to Spider-man (not the character himself) are owned by Sony.

Although I was first appalled by this news (given the recent additions to the SW Universe in terms of television/film), I have since come round to believe that there is not only no reason to fret, but reason to believe that this could be a damn good thing for the franchise.
There is no way that these new films can ever be as good as IV, V and VI were collectively. I have no worries that the reputation of those films will be untarnished by this move; heck, Lucas has done more to change the films with negative results than anyone else could (Darth Vader now shouting "Noooo!" when throwing the Emperor off of the balcony? Really?).
Seeing Disney's films which are based either on folklore or some existing theme (Pirates of the Caribbean, Avengers Assemble/The Avengers), I don;t think that there's any way they can make the films any worse than I, II and III were collectively. Heck, if they did them of the same quality of Pirates or Avengers, that would be absolutely amazing.
Nobody knows for sure yet what particular era after VI that Episode VII will feature. There are several things that they could do, although with the established EU canon as it is, they'd either have to hire new actors to play our beloved scoundrel crew so that they could focus on the events immediately after VI, or involve the original actors and focus on Cade Skywalker or the rise and fall of Jacen Solo. As such, there is some fear of what canon they could dismantle (heck, given the fans' reactions to The Clone Wars doing the same, I doubt that they'd want to even tamper with it), but again I don't think there's true need to panic like there's no tomorrow until we know exactly what there is to come.
Even though Lucas is staying as the creative consultant, it would be good to see new eyes working on this beloved film saga. Heck, the new president of LucasFilm is somebody who has worked alongside Lucas for many years on projects such as E.T, so it's not as if it will be an entirely new barrel of monkeys working with Disney on this, which also gives me confidence that they will do all they can to make it appeal to the fans who were extremely disappointed by the prequel trilogy.
The future awaits.

I hope it's to improve education in countries that can actually do something useful with it. (in other words: not the poor countries where they'll end up not using whatever they learn or just die from hunger/thirst)

Here is an accurate and entertaining summary. I never watched it or supported it either.

Well, the rumours of Hasbro being sought to be bought by Disney have been denied, or at least according to EqD.
Hmm, Harrison potentially returning? That would be very interesting to see. Especially if it means seeing Jacen Solo and possibly even as far as Cade Skywalker. As long as it rules out the rebirth of the Emperor and Luke's apprenticeship, I don't mind what happens.
