No access to operation so i'm guessing there would be no pay to win.

So, as a purchaser of the CE playing since Day 1, will I be getting 3250 Cartel Credits?
1000 for CE 900 = 150 per paid month (6 since launch) 600 = Each paid month until FTP (guessing 3 months) 750 = Each active player (possibly character) per month?
I don't know...all I know is I'll be getting a bunch of them.

I'm not big on the F2P style of MMOs. It typically just bogs down the servers and drives the economy into a rut with players who don't know how to properly sell/under-cut people. "Oh it's 50k? TIME TO SELL MINE FOR 20K LOL."
I'm actually very surprised and disappointed that this MMO is already going into F2P despite not even being a year-old yet. I think this is a sign to either abandon the ship of a failing game or SWTOR community, or a possible resurgence in the game's life. Seeing how BioWare handles major changes to the game and community, it's most likely the former.
EDIT: I was looking at the content access overview for F2P and it made me laugh a few times. F2Ps have limited access to character creation. EA is going to nickel and dime their ass.
_They plan to make new update every 6 weeks. _New event is coming in August.
Wow, that thread is so full of butthurt, all the ointment in the world couldn't sooth it. The thing that concerns me the most is what they said about content output in the wake of layoffs.
Quote :
Their answer was simple: any shift in staff they've made over the past few months has been to sort of rebuild the studio for this new F2P venture. They have more focused content teams in place now than they did before, and they're more confident now that they can meet their goals with this altered approach.
So only now do they have focused content teams? What were they doing before, drawing their jobs out of a hat every day? It would certainly explain a few things.
They say that they are going to release endgame content faster now, and they're going to have to since that's the only thing people will be paying for anymore. Their plan actually sounds fantastic in theory, it's just a question of whether or not they can pull it off given their recent layoffs and track record.

Bioware why u no learn to make end game things?
Given that their last event was about a week after their biggest content patch to date, I see no reason why they are mutually exclusive.

Okay, so it is not necessarily F2P, but rather "pay for what you want to do". So as subscribers we are still getting a leg up on everyone else by having access to any new content, and full features of the game. Whereas anyone who is F2P can choose weather they want to unlock an Ops or a new WZ, rather than just have to pay every month for everything, when they may only do certain things mainly, such as WZ.
Granted going F2P does unnerve me, but if it takes them in a step towards releasing some more content steadily, than I am all for it.

If this teaches the BioWare team how to focus on content and get shit done then I am all for it.

If it really works out as P2P getting everything and F2P being able to choose what they want via micro transactions than I wish the best of luck to ToR. As long as CC only buy 'luxury' cosmetic items and access to content which is free for P2P. I so hope there won't be a pay-to-win option as I would stop playing instantly. As far as stuff goes I'll stay subscribed.

They made sure to state that there is not going to be Pay to Win, and I don't really see how you could with what they have stated. Paying to access content still means you have to work to get the rewards from the content. Cosmetic stuff is just that, cosmetic. The only way it would be Pay to Win is if CC could buy augs, gear, mats, etc., which it most likely won't.

THANK GOD! please be withint first 2 weeks of august now
Just gonna stay subscribed myself. As I said in another topic I only pay online things for serious stuff, not microtransactions. And I buy game time cards in a store.

_For the new content: what i think is Bioware didn't have any good time to actually focus on new content, they made new content for 1.2,but it didn't go well as they expected due to server population. So they focused on server transfer and LFG tool. As soon as they're done with it,the free to play preparation took place i guess + the layoffs-changes in the studio. Not to mention the pressure EA put them .
Now that the situation has stabilized somewhat,i hope new content will be out more frequently in the upcoming months.

Interesting developments, it has to be said.
It's good to know that there's more stuff coming out for the subscribed players and that they aren't leaving us out to dry in favour of working on the F2P system and those potentially playing using it. The new operation and WarZone look great, and then of course there's HK-51 to look forward to.
The cartel coins system looks very interesting. I like the idea of rare items being available, such as that Kowakian Monkey Lizard and that fantastic Darth Nihilus' helmet. It'll be interesting to see what else they add for Republic players.
It'll be interesting to see how this unfolds.

Not sure if Jack Hickamn is good news though. He was an executive producer of Warhammer Online, a game that now only has 3 servers and last reported number of subs was 300k in 2009 (less than a year since launch having peaked at 800k), likely even less now.
I also find it interesting that ToR breakeven point of 500k. I wonder if this means 500k copies sold or if it is continuing subscriptions (and if for how long?)

As somepony who got bored after the original release, and didn't re-subscribe, because it cost money, I'm glad that I'll be able to get into the game again. I just wonder if me being there for the launch means anything.

Well for the month you were subscribed you'll get extra Cartel Coins. That's a bonus.
