| Hello, Anonymous has announced its intention to take down the major DNS servers tomorrow, 3/31, to protest SOPA. For those unfamiliar with DNS, what these do is take web addresses the way we think of them (the URL, such as www.equestriadaily.com) and convert them to the way computers think of them (the IP Address, such as 208.73.210.29) If they succeed, while these are down entering a web address will give you an error. To help you use the internet during this time, I am including a list of the IP addresses for some major sites. If you enter these addresses instead of the normal URL, you can still reach the site. If you think of any other sites we'll want the IP Address for, get the IP address by pinging the web site and post it here. Anonymous' declaration of the attack can be found here: http://pastebin.com/NKbnh8q8Minor note: because of the way the security on my job's network works, it won't let me test these. If any don't work, let me know. www.google.com - http://74.125.224.135www.tvtropes.org - http://216.151.212.103www.facebook.com - http://69.171.229.15www.deviantart.com - http://199.15.160.100mail.yahoo.com - http://66.163.169.186www.minecraft.com - http://110.232.140.130(Listed edited based on feedback)

In order: 1) EQD: Problem Loading Page 2) YouTube: Brings me to Google home page 3) TV Tropes: Works fine 4) Wikipedia: Error message from Wiki saying the wiki doesn't exist. 5) This site: Says forum doesn't exit 6) Enjin: says domain doesn't exist 7) TORWars : Nope.jpg Facebook: Works, but Firefox had it listed as an untrusted site. I said it's fine, and it brought me right there. 9) Tumblr: Not found 10) DeviantArt: Works fine 11) Cracked: Invalid URL 12) Gmail: Google Homepage 13) Yahoo Mail: Brings me to login page. 14) SWTOR: Invalid URL 15) Minecraft: Default Website Page 16) Minecraft Wiki: Curse Network error message saying page doesn't exist. 17) Derpyhooves: Weird message. Says that Apache is working on the cPanel and WHM server. 18) Ponibooru: Site Temporarily Unavailable Big ups for compiling this list, btw. It'll be a big help when they do this. I'm working most of tomorrow, but it's nice to know it's there if I need it. ~D |

| It shouldn't - the file that stores where to connect to most likely uses the IP address.
When I get home, I'll try to locate this file, and if it doesn't, get the IP and post how to make it be able to connect.
Same for Mumble and Minecraft. |

| Pre-resolving the IP won't work in many cases because of things like dynamic DNS and virtual hosting. This forum, for example, is virtually hosted, in that the page that's served back differs based on the resource you're requesting by name (in this case, "swtorponies"). Just trying to navigate to the IP address directly, it won't know what you actually want, and you'll get an error or a different page. Other than handcrafting the HTTP request, the only way to get around it is to add them to your HOSTS file then navigate to the site as you normally would, so it will send the correct host name to the server. |

| I've updated the list based on Doombah's feedback. It's now much shorter Google's on there, but be aware that it's not going to be very useful. Some things like GMail, Google Docs, and Youtube may be accessable, but the searching isn't likely to work. Also, Our non-North American members may still be able to navigate normally since the DNS servers they use are less likely to be targeted. |
