I'm just gonna say it "vohrn-skurr." it sounds Swedish.

Sounds drastically awesome to me.

Gonna make a couple characters named Sturm and Drang.

The Vornskr is a sort of wolf like creature from the planet Myrkr. The can sense creatures in the Force, and that's how they hunt. Their prey for a long time was the ysalimiri, a lizard like creature.

Through evolution, the ysalimiri developed the ability to produce a bubble around them that negates the Force. The more of them there are together, the larger the bubble grows, thus they tend to stick to groups of at least three or four.

When the Yuuzahn Vong invaded, they genetically manipulated a vornskr to become a brutal killing machine known as voxyn that were meant specifically to hunt Jedi.

Those are retconned Ysalamiri. Originally they were more snakelike, rather than lizardlike. I have a Talon Karrde and Thrawn action figure set, and the Thrawn figure has a better looking ysalamir.

This was one of the first pictures I ever saw of a ysalimiri. This is more like what I imagined them while reading the books and fits your description and what the action figure looks like more than the pic I posted.

Myrkr is definitely inspired by Norse. It actually sounds like the entire planet and it's inhabitants are Norse inspired. :>
So for me it's the perfect name. I feel at home now.

Also, BronyQuest : Why Swedish? Technically you should say Scandinavian, since the three languages are too similar to actually be called different languages.

The only reason I said "Swedish" is because I was talking to Bluemaroon on MSN to tell him what server we're on, and he said "Hmm. Sounds Swedish". So I just rolled with it. It's more his opinion than mine.

Great books. Zahn basically was the largest early contributor to the EU and kickstarted it with the Heir trilogy. The duology was good and I really like Outbound Flight. Survivors Quest and Allegiance sort of sucked, though. I haven't read Choices of One, but after Allegiance I realized that Zahn was sort of stuck in his rut of Mara/Luke/Thrawn. Great characters, but other writers have just been so good since then. Troy Denning is a favorite of mine.

It's funny...I had these brilliant strategists that I read about and each one got even more amazing than the previous. First was Thrwan, then it was Torinaga from Shogun by James Clavell, and then it was Paul Atreides from the Dune series, and the most recent one was Ender Wiggin from Enders Game.

Do you mean Fin/Nor/Swe or Nor/Swe/Dan? I always though Finnish was more Uralic than North Germanic.
On the other hand pronouncing Vornskr in Czech just sounds like you are absolutely mad and about to kill someone, which sounds rather bad ass.

First of all, Troy Denning fumbled the ball hardcore on Invincible, which could be partially attributed to lucasbooks meddling in it. The first half of Invincible was epic with the Caedus/Luke(Jaina) duel, but the last bit was just rubbish. My personal canon has Caedus blinding Jaina with a Force illusion, while he snuck away to plot his return, or to manipulate the galaxy. He pretty much went out like a bitch.

Anyway, Choices of One was pretty good, and its not that Zahn is stuck in a rut, its the fact that nobody else can write the characters properly.

Mara was wildly out of character for the first half of NJO, until Allston wrote her back on track. She was kind of weird in Legacy, even though thats my favorite arc. She really had no reason dying like she did. Mara was pretty much integral in balancing Luke's actual character.

Luke, on the other hand, seems to have absorbed Mara's character when she died, and you could barely tell that he was a farmboy who lucked out. Zahn still remembers that he was just this wide-eyed kid who got roped into something huge. And Zahn tones down the Force. A lot of writers have just kind of used the Force as "it can do anything" while Zahn treats it with the respect it deserves, and refers back to the wisdom of the Force that a lot of people ignore. I will admit that the Ben/Luke dynamic is pretty good, but thats usually due to Allston being the funniest damn author I have ever read.

Thrawn is just amazing, and is the reason why anyone can find the Empire sympathetic, which is a huge thing to do. Of course Zahn has mentioned that if needed he can have a clone of Thrawn emerge and deal with being a clone of Thrawn, and how people would interact with him.

I like Allegiance, it was really the book the drew me into the EU.

I believe if you click on the server name on your Guild Headquarters page, "Assigned to Server Vornskr," you will see a list of some guilds that share the same server with you. I'm not sure if it lists ALL the guilds on the same server, though.

Hey, i am new on this site and thinking of leaving my others servers to start on this one, as a smuggler.
But i am from EU, Will i have any trubble gaming on a north american server?

We have plenty of Europeans (me included) and we have recently gained an Aussie. You should have no problem playing on Vornskr, the ping should be about 150-200 ms which has not impeded me greatly. Only problem is that sometimes events are done at US evenings so late at night in Europe but it's up to you if you still want to join them, I know I do. Operations are done at good times (afternoon US, late evening EU).

It doesn't really matter where you live, we'd love to have you! Not only do we have many European members already, two of them are officers, so you can rest assured your needs won't be ignored. Also, we could definitely use some more smugglers.
