PostSubject: Sad Days    Sad Days I_icon_minitimeMon Nov 21, 2011 5:07 pm

Well, my cat passed away today. I'm rather sad about it, but I suppose not much else can be helped about it. We took him into the vet's office to check out a cut on his ear. The doctor was going to sew it up, but my cat went into cardiac arrest while being operated on, and unfortunately passed away. I'm rather sad about it, again, but I'm not going to let it bog me down. Hopefully.

Any more stories that you lot want to get off your chests? Just so I don't have to feel like such a sad sack.

I know the pain of losing a pet. I had a dog from age 3 to 18. I loved her so very much, but in the last year or so of her life she started to become lethargic and doing strange things and being incontinent. It was really sad. One day I woke up for school and my father was home. This was odd. He just said "Say goodbye to the dog. We're having her put down today." I held her and just cried for like, 20 minutes straight. I knew it was for the best, but that doesn't make it any easier.

I've never had a pet that I lost and didn't feel sad for. They have a way of getting deep into you and pulling on your heart strings.

I won't lie. It's not going to get better for a long while. It will eventually fade away, though. There will eventually just be happy memories left and the good times. I remember all of my pets fondly and know that they loved me. Smile

About a month ago we had to put one of our dogs down. I cried for atleast an hour before I calmed down when I saw his condition. The day before I had noticed that he wasn't being as active, and he wasn't jumping up on the bed like he usually does whenever I sit on it and call him. I told my step-grandfather, but he figured he just wasn't feeling well.

The next day I woke up and went to go find him. When I asked my grandmother where he was she said he was probably under the bed (One of our other dogs goes under the bed alot, but he never did) I called his name (pug) and tried to get him to come out, I heard something moving but I wasn't sure so I looked under the bed. He was crawling forward with just his front legs, I could tell something was wrong with his back legs. So I turned him on his side and slowly pulled him out. It turns out the he busted the disc underneath the spinal cord, leading to him being paralyzed from the waist down. At first we were just gonna get a little doggie wheelchair for him, but he was whining all night and hardly got any sleep.

It was heartbreaking to everyone, but it hit my grandmother really hard because she loved that dog. We all still miss him.

EDIT: It was one giant wall of text so I split it up a bit.

I'm truly sorry to hear that, Rarity. From talking in Axon, I got an idea of how much you loved your cats, so I know it has to be hitting you pretty hard. Was it the brony, or the gamer cat? Don't worry about feeling like a sad sack, bro, it is justified. Smile

I never had a pet of my own that passed, but years ago my brother had a cat, named Cronik, who was like a child to him and his girlfriend before they had their own. They loved that cat so much. Then one day she got out of the house and got hit by a car. She managed to come out of it with a broken leg (and possibly other problems, but we weren't sure), but we couldn't afford to take her to the vet. They tried to just take care of her for the night, but she kept writhing and crying in agony. So my brother came into my room crying, and told me he needed me to help him put her down. I will spare you the details of how we did it, but after it was done, we both cried for a while. It was hard on him, and really tore my heart, both for him and Cronik.

I have had a more recent and personal issue with loss that I am dealing with, but it involves a human, not a pet, so I will save it(unless you want to know). Just try your best to keep your chin up and take it one day at a time. I'm here for you if you ever want to vent/talk/whatever. Yay~!

So much sadness in one thread. I'm sorry about your cat Rarity, and everyone else's pets. I have experienced the passing of two pets, a dog and a rat, so I understand how much losing a four-legged family member can suck. I hope you feel better soon!

I'm sorry Rarity for your loss.

I have lived with pets my entire life and seen many of them pass on. They aren't really pets after awhile, they become family. It is hard to lose them, but they bring us such joy while they are here.

In childhood my best friend was a dog. She was the best friend I could have, always listening and happy to see me. I still miss her. Seeing her off was the hardest thing I had to do.

I hope the pain passes soon.
